Staff Music Arranger - The Ohio State University Marching & Athletic Bands
2010 - present
John joined the Ohio State University Marching Band arranging staff in 2010. The OSUMB has performed John's arrangements at bowl games, BOA Grand Nationals, the Buckeye Invitational, and regular season games. John also began writing arrangements for the OSU Athletic Band in 2006. Those arrangements have been performed at both OSU Athletic events and the annual OSU Spring Football Game. University of North Texas Green Brigade Marching Band
2019- present
John began writing arrangements for the University of North Texas Green Brigade Marching Band in 2019. Dr. Daniel Cook and the design team have been working closely to create educational and innovative shows to showcase a diverse group of composers and artists. For the 2021 season, John wrote the wind book for the UNT Green Brigade's exhibition show.

2006 - present
John has been arranging for both show and competitive high school bands across the country. His music has been performed at state adjudicated events, MidStates (MSBA), and Bands Of America (BOA) competitions. Additionally, several colleges have also hired John to write field shows and pep band charts.

Education
The Ohio State University - Bachelor of Music Education (2009)
During John's undergraduate career he was an active participant in the band program at The Ohio State University. He marched for 5 seasons with The Ohio State University Marching Band (2003-2007) and performed for several quarters in the OSU Symphonic Band, Collegiate Winds, University Band, and Athletic Band. John also began to work on his arranging skills during his undergraduate studies. Part of those studies included private lessons with composer Jim Swearingen.
The Ohio State University - Master of Arts (2014)
John's Master of Arts degree was focused in Music Education. As part of the program John completed a thesis entitled Show Design and Wind Arranging for Marching Ensembles. This document is a comprehensive study into marching band arranging and show design. It covers the traditional practices in arranging and show design, in addition to contemporary techniques used in the drum corps activity. Click here to view a pdf.
